Pleasure Reading Progress

Hello, everyone!

Today is Sunday and it means that I’m going to dwell upon my individual reading progress as usual. I’ve read a new section that is called “Learning new skills” and the following thoughts I consider important:

  1. A person, who’s looking for a job, should make a list of what s/he wants to learn. The author asks a question: “What happens if you choose your next career move based on what to learn next?” I believe such a career move may be crucial, because he may fall in love with his new profession.
  2. The author gives a list of good questions that a job-seeker needs to find out about the company he’s interested in, so that he doesn’t waste his time, resources, and effort. I think it is the right thing to do, because our human resources aren’t eternal and it’s really frustrating when we put a lot of effort to something and get nothing.

3. The most significant thing I’ve paid attention to in this section is the idea of learning outside of school. This idea strongly resonates with me, because I think it’s highly important to try something new and constantly challenge yourself. Getting education is fine, but why not taking a short-term cooking course if you’ve been thinking of it for so long?! It’s not easy to make such a decision, because it’s going out of your comfort zone, so a person comes up with numerous “I can’t’s”. But when, if not now? We won’t have more free time than now. I can’t stop thinking about it.

Traditionally, I’d like to share some new words from the chapters:

frenetic — fast and energetic in a rather wild and uncontrolled way — безумный, неистовый.

to embody — be an expression of or give a tangible or visible form to (an idea, quality, or feeling); represent — воплощать, олицетворять.

reprieve — palliation — временное облегчение.

purgatory — having the quality of cleansing or purifying — очистительный.

to deviate — depart from usual or accepted standards — отклоняться.

And here is my Memrise Progress as well (Posting screenshots here helps me to continue working indeed).
