Pleasure Reading Progress

Hello, everyone! Today’s post is about my individual reading progress. Traditionally I’d like to share some new words that seem useful for me:

aversion to smth — a feeling of strong dislike or of not wishing to do something — отвращение.

to vent — give free expression to (a strong emotion) — выражать, высказывать.

to demarcate — set the boundaries or limits of; to differentiate; to split up — разделять, разграничивать.

to endorse — declare one’s public approval or support of; to encourage — одобрять.

resilience (to smth) — the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness — стойкость.

incongruous — not in harmony or keeping with the surroundings or other aspects of something; incompatible, irrelevant — несочетаемый, несовместимый.

to envision — imagine as a future possibility; visualize — представлять себе, воображать.

misaligned — having an incorrect position or alignment — смещенный.

extenuating — (of a factor or situation) serving to lessen the seriousness of an offence; soothing, palliative — смягчающий.

serendipitous — occurring or discovered by chance in a happy or beneficial way — связанный со счастливым случаем.

On Friday I finished to read the section called “Overwhelmed” and I want to share one interesting idea which is a great reminder for all of us, I believe. The author writes that if you feel stressed, angry, frustrated, hopeless, jobless, or whatsoever, you shouldn’t act on any of these feelings until you:

1. Sleep for seven hours
2. Eat a full, healthy meal
3. Exercise
4. Treat yourself to something you love

The purpose of these four steps is not to dull your feelings or escape from them, but to create the physical, emotional, and mental space that will allow you to hear what is going on inside and listen to that voice.

As for me, when I’m stressed out and can’t do anything in a good way, I often jump to conclusions like “I’m stupid, useless, all my efforts were in vain”, etc. So, I think I should remember about these four simple rules and give myself time once in a while to listen to my body and mind.
