Hi! My name is Julia and I’m from Russia. Right now I’m standing on the shore looking at the magnificent Statue of Liberty. I had had a long way before I came here and now I’m experiencing the scores of emotions at the same time.

Of course, I am excited because my aim was to migrate to the U.S, but I have many fears too about the difficulties I’ll have to face. I’m afraid of not being assimilated even after living here for many years. I’m afraid of not achieving a descent standard of living. I’m afraid of not being successful in competing with the American people. I do really have many fears, but I know that I’ll overcome them and achieve what I want to achieve in this life, because I’m highly motivated to work hard. I hope I’ll go through everything.

I want to become an independent person and rely on myself as well as be able to help my relatives if they need my aid. America is a country of opportunities and I’ll do my best to use all of them to the full. But if I were a bit lucky too, it would make my way easier.

Tomorrow I’ll start seeking for a job, explore the area next to my house and get acquainted with my neighbors. And, oh, man, I have a lot of things to do tomorrow. Everything is going to change the next day and I’m inspired even thought my face expresses anxiety.

The Statue of Liberty, which I’m looking at right now, definitely associates with a new life. Tomorrow I’ll start my life from scratch.
