Amazing! Incredible! Touching! Heartbreaking! Gorgeous!

I said after watching “Hamilton”. The musical, created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, impressed me a great deal. I’ve never seen anything like this before — it was the first time, but I’ll definitely rewatch this masterpiece, and I’ve already recommended it to my friends.

To be honest, at first, it was hard to believe that there was such a musical that tells about American history through rap and hip-hop and that it could be done in such a creative way, but “Hamilton” is a brilliant example. The musical tells about American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, his difficult life path and fate. Despite all the obstacles, Hamilton pursued his goals and dreams and became a respected, significant for the history person. The musical shows some other historical figures as well, for example, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, King George III, and Aaron Burr — people, who had a great influence on the development of American history.

Lin-Manuel Miranda describes “Hamilton” as “America then, as told by America now”. I believe it is the exact reason why the musical has gained worldwide popularity. Many young people were attracted to the play because of the musical genres presented in it. Even though the musical tells about historical events that teenagers usually do not have a big interest in, the director’s succeeded in piquing teenagers’ curiosity. I consider this new, innovative form of a musical to be a breakthrough in the world of theater and I’m so glad that directors are not afraid to experiment and promote their fresh (and maybe even crazy at first sight) ideas. I enjoyed the episode made in a form of a rap battle when the Founding Fathers argued about the Declaration of Independence. Where else can we see rap debates about the Constitution?! Undoubtedly, ‘Hamilton’ is unique at this point, and it proves that the theater industry goes forward.

While watching the musical, I had great empathy for Hamilton, his wife Eliza, and their relationship as they went through many difficulties. “They are going through the unimaginable” song can’t leave anybody indifferent. During this episode, I couldn’t help but burst into tears from the beauty of the lyrics. In the musical Eliza is shown as a very strong woman mentally with high moral values: “Just stay alive, that would be enough”. I’m sure, all the viewers were astonished by her ability to forgive sincerely, and by her deeds after her husband’s death. Eliza’s actions made her a revered person. Besides, I want to emphasize the unexceptional signing of the women’s part of the cast — I felt like their voices penetrated my soul.

In general, I was amazed by literally everything, happening on the stage: by the actors’ scintillating costumes that perfectly reflected the era, unorthodox singing and dancing, outstanding sound and visual effects (remember when Eliza burned the letters right on the stage!). I’m glad that I didn’t throw away my shot and watched “Hamilton”, thanks to which I got a better understanding of some historic events.
